How to clean your granite kitchen sink

In the past, I told you how to take care of your copper and stainless steel sinks, now granite's turn is here.
The first thing that you should remember when cleaning a granite sinks, or any other sink, for that matter, is never to use any abrasive cleaners.

Keeping a granite sink beautiful and elegant even after long-term usage require lots of maintenance. But if you follow these simple tips on a regular basis, you can save yourself from a lot of work.
  • To remove everyday stains from your granite sink, clean the surface with a soft sponge or cloth and dish washing liquid.
  • A cloth or paper towel soaked in white vinegar will remove mineral spots and scale.
  •  You can remove tough spots with a low-abrasive cleanser such as Soft Scrub®.
  • Always rinse and dry the sink thoroughly after using any cleaner.
  • Avoid using ammonia and other strong alkalis such as drain cleaner in a composite granite sink. Flush any spills promptly with plenty of water.

How to clean your copper kitchen sink

Copper kitchen sinks are a nice addition to your kitchen, but to enjoy them for a long time you must know how to care for them properly.

  • Do not use chemicals
Copper does not react well to chemicals, which should be avoided at all costs. This removes the natural patina of the sink and it will lose its the intrinsic properties.

  • Use dish soap and water
Dish soap and water is all you need to get your copper sink nice and clean. Make a habit of cleaning the sink every time you use it. This will also help to eliminate water spots that can appear.

  • Wax your copper sink
This should be done only twice a year. You can slow down the patina process by applying a protective wax to the copper surface periodically to help maintain the luster and provide better water runoff. Look for a special copper wax in stores.

Tip: If you want your sink to shine you can always use some olive oil. Just put some on a rag or a sponge to give the sink a nice polish.
